$230K HAIR Extensions Stolen | hwh<3

On July 7th, 2012, in Chicago, IL, $230,000 worth of hair extensions was stolen from a beauty supply store overnight.
Don Shin, owner of 35th Street Beauty Supply, came to work Sunday morning to realize that his most valuable merchandise had disappeared. ”They knew what they were doing. They didn’t take any of the cheap stuff,” Shin said. “”This is an investment for me. It’s hard to find the natural hair right now, it isn’t always available. So when I have a chance, I buy it.” Real human hair extensions have been increasing in price, as they have become more popular.
Surveillance showed three people carrying out six large duffle bags filled with the hair extensions. They entered the building by hammering through the wall. After breaking through the wall, they crawled under the motion detectors and then ripped the wiring from the alarm system.
A similar burglary took place in April, 2011, where $80,000 worth of extensions was stolen from a different shop. Shin hopes they will draw a lot of attention to them this time. ”It’s going to be hard (to catch them), but they are probably going to try to sell it quickly.”
Shin believes that the merchandise will be sold on the streets or in other salons.
